In the few touristic areas of the Sonoran coast you may find local dealers or souvenir stands that occasionally or only offer shells. Most common species are Lobatus galeatus, Malea ringens, Hexaplex species, Pectinidae, Melongena patula, Macrocypraea cervinetta californiensis, Olivia porphyria, Oliva incrassata.
Looking closer you may discover rarities, bycatch of the fishing of Hexaplex, Pinnidae, or Strombidae. As you can see on the foto below: Chama, Conus, Crossata, Harpa, Malea, Semicassis, Spondylus, Triplofusus, things you may find on beaches or not in this sizes, or not in this quality, or not at all. I buy from time to time interesting species and I will also present material here. Most material is dead collected, because it comes from crab traps that also attract hermit crabs. Many species (Lobatus, Hexaplex) are eaten.
